History Nobody knows where the Vishkanyas came from, not even the Vishkanyas. All anybody knows is that they are an ancient race who’s existence is only predated by the Fairies. For the first few centuries that their country of Salgaud existed the Vishkanyas were a powerful race and one of the most cunning. With silver tongues and venomous mouths they quickly became a force to be reckoned with. they were among the first to build cities of stone, some of which still stand. But, their reign did not last long. somewhere in the mid 600’s their race began to decline. The once mighty empire crumbled in a matter of decades. The cause of which is another unknown in the Vishkanya’s mysterious history.
Enemies like the Humans and Elves that had despised the Vishkanyas for their deceptive nature quickly took the opprotunity to take large portions of their land. What remained of the Vishkanyas was left in an almost uninhabitable portion of Terra Belli, dominated by thick forest canyons and desert. In an attempt to bolster their position a small army attacked the Sylphs in order to gain enough supplies to last them another year. But, the Elves and Humans made quick work of them, leaving the Vishkanya completely at their mercy. It was agreed that so long as the Vishkanya never made an attack again those that survived would be allowed to live.
Salgaud is covered entirely by desert, canyons, and lifeless forests. They are able to sell their venom at high prices but other than that and the skins of their dead they have nothing to offer . They have also taken to living in the dilapidated cities of old.
The Vishkanya’s are completely anarchic with nothing even resembling any form of government. Everything they do is just to live through the day.
The Vishkanyas care nothing for most races, but they absolutely despise the Humans and Elves. When they are allowed to pass through Prospero the Vishkanya will sell their services, venom and often their bodies to the Fairies of Alf Heim in exchange for their supplies. This has allowed them to craft fine objects and gear, while still remaining the smallest and poorest of all the races.
